We are committed to being transparent about how we collect and use that data and to meeting its data protection obligations. What information does West Yorkshire Spinners collect when you apply for a job? West Yorkshire Spinners collects a range of information about you. This may include:

  • Your name, address and contact details, including email address, social media identifiers and telephone number.
  • Details of your qualifications, skills, experience and employment history.
  • Information about your current level of remuneration.
  • Information about your entitlement to work in the UK.
  • Equal opportunities monitoring information, including information about your ethnic origin, sexual orientation, health and religion or belief.

West Yorkshire Spinners collects this information from your CV (where relevant), your application form and your interview (including where appropriate any online communications). Information relating your right to work in the UK (e.g. Passport/ Identity Documents) is also collected on appointment to a post.

West Yorkshire Spinners may also collect personal data about you from third parties, such as references supplied by former employers, information from employment background check providers and information from criminal records checks. We will only seek information from third parties once a job offer to you has been made and will inform you that we are doing so.

We do not collect more information than we need to fulfil our stated purposes and will not retain it for longer than is necessary.

Data will be stored in a range of different places, including on your application record, in HR management systems and on other IT systems (including email).


Why Does West Yorkshire Spinners Process Personal Data?

West Yorkshire Spinners needs to process data to take steps at your request prior to considering you for a role in our company. It may also need to process your data to enter into a contract with you.

We may use the contact details you provide to us to contact you to progress your application. We will use other information you provide to assess your suitability for the role you have applied for. All the information we ask for is necessary and used to assess your suitability for employment with us.

You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide data to West Yorkshire Spinners during the recruitment process. However, if you do not provide the information, we may not be able to process your application properly or at all.

For some roles, West Yorkshire Spinners is obliged to seek information about criminal convictions and offences. Where we seek this information, we do so to ensure we meet our obligations and exercise specific rights in relation to employment legislation.
